Laura is an absolute expert when it comes to understanding sensory strategies, and she has a way of explaining exactly how students (and adults!) may feel when going through a period of dysregulation. If you've ever had a student who avoided school work, had a complete meltdown, or seemed really anxious- it could be something off in their sensory regulation. Learning about students' sensory needs is key to effective behavior management in classrooms of every grade. Laura helps us step into our role as sensory detectives to understand what could be going on with a student's behavior, so we can help them find the right supports, SEL skills, and advocate for them as well. Is it a behavior problem... or is it a sensory need? You'll find out in this episode!
